Chalet Étoile, located in the pretty Morillon village centre, is a stunning 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom chalet sleeping 10 people. The spacious chalet is just 100m from both the Morillon télécabine lift and the bottom of the Doina piste, allowing guests easy access up and down the slopes – you can ski all the back down to within 100m of the chalet for most of the season. In summer, the beautiful life-guarded Lac Bleu and its surrounding family friendly activities are an easy 750m walk from the chalet. Although only a short walk from the village's many amenities, Chalet Etoile is very private, surrounded by a large sunny garden with hot tub, terrace and balconies where you enjoy spectacular views of the Criou mountain, the Doina ski slope and nearby woodlands. This is the perfect all-year round hide-away, whether you come to ski, après-ski, swim, hike, relax, work from home, cycle, paraglide, attend festivals, sports competitions - or simply breathe in the fabulous pure mountain air.
Chalet Étoile magically mixes contemporary style with luxurious, traditional alpine charm. The property is comfortably spread over 3 floors with over 140m2 of living space, including high-quality furnishings and amenities on every floor. Highlights include a warming log fire, a large open plan living and dining area, a second living room with smart TV, a spacious and superbly equipped kitchen, and a hot tub with stunning views of the Criou.
The chalet has private off-street parking on the driveway for 2 cars, an EV car charger, a secure ski locker and large bike storage, and a generously sized boot room.
This property is privately owned and has been carefully selected to be in Alps Accommodation’s premier portfolio. It has a Saturday changeover day, however in low season and for last minute bookings, flexible arrival day and length of stay may be available. Contact us for more information.
Entering the chalet on the ground floor, you'll find a beautifully wood-lined and spacious boot room with warming underfloor heating and generous storage space for outdoor clothing and footwear. There is also a handy laundry room equipped with washing machine, tumble-dryer and drying space, should you need it. On this level there are 2 double bedrooms and one twin room, plus 2 bathrooms (one en-suite).
The first floor, accessed via a short flight of stairs, has a beautiful open-plan living area with large comfy sofas and armchairs surrounding an impressive log fire. No better place to unwind after the day’s activities! There is also a handy bathroom and a 2nd living room with a sofa, additional seating, a large TV (UK and French channels) offering a very useful den for teenagers or adults to call their own – there is also a desk available for guests wishing to work from home, the view is quite inspirational! The kitchen comes superbly equipped with granite work surfaces and quality appliances including full size oven, microwave, induction hob, full height fridge-freezer and a Philips L'OR coffee machine. In the dining area, an impressive wood dining table comfortably seats 10 people, and a fondue and raclette machine are provided for those wishing to sample some authentic Savoyard cuisine. There is access to a south facing balcony with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, including the jaw-dropping Criou. The garden and hot tub can also be accessed from this level.
On the top floor there are 2 luxurious ensuite bedrooms with king beds.

Chalet Etoile offers 5 spacious bedrooms spread over three levels, each featuring high quality linen and gorgeous throws and cushions throughout.
The upper level of the chalet features 2 ensuite bedrooms. Bedroom 1 features a luxurious king size bed, while the ensuite bathroom offers a shower, sink, towel radiator and WC.
Bedroom 2 contains twin beds, with the ensuite bathroom offering a bath and integrated shower, sink, towel radiator and WC. Both offer good storage with built-in wardrobes and a large wooden trunk in each ensuite.
The ground level of the chalet is where you'll find bedrooms 3, 4 and 5. Bedroom 3 has an ensuite and a luxurious king size bed, which can be split into 2 single beds upon request.
Bedroom 4 is another king-sized bedroom, with a large built in wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Bedroom 5 offers twin beds with a wardrobe and good storage. Bedrooms 4 and 5 share an adjacent bathroom with walk in shower, sink, towel radiator and WC.
The chalet boasts a private garden with sunny East and South-facing flat lawns, and a terrace featuring sunken hot tub available for year-round use. You can also enjoy amazing views of the Criou and Marcely mountains from 2 sunny balconies on the main living floor. The grounds are surrounded on all four sides by hedges giving a good deal of privacy without hindering the chalet's sunny position and fantastic views. Enjoy alfresco dining on the terrace or take in the views of the sun going down on the Criou from your spot in the hot tub! The garden is equipped with a table and chairs, BBQ, lounge and deck chairs and various garden games.
A secure ski locker and separate bike store is provided, and there is a parking area on the drive for up to 2 cars. For electric cars, you are able to park directly outside the house and charge up your car with the EV charger and cable provided.
Chalet Étoile boasts a wonderful location to spend time in the Alps, whatever the season! The chalet is set back from the main road and just 100 metres from the ski lift which offers quick access into the vast Grand Massif ski network. When snow conditions allow you can also ski all the way down to the bottom of the Doina piste, with only a short 100m stroll back to the chalet or even shorter into one of the après-ski bars! A short 100m walk also takes you to the closest of the many local amenities including restaurants, bars, cafes, boulangerie, butcher, and small supermarket.
In winter, a ski bus stop can be found just 100m away opposite the telecabine linking the villages of Morillon, Verchaix, Samoëns and Sixt. Popular cross-country skiing circuits also start very close to the chalet and go via Lac Bleu and on to Samoëns and Sixt, depending on snow conditions. For non-skiers or skiers wishing to explore further afield, ski buses operate during the day and early evening and provide free access to Samoëns, Vercland and Sixt. Buses leave from outside the Morillon télécabine.
The beautiful Lac Bleu offers a dedicated swimming area in crystal-clear water and many other activities to keep toddlers, teenagers and adults entertained within an easy 750m walk from the chalet: pump track, high ropes, obstacle course, tennis courts, horse-riding, inflatable kids’ park. There are also numerous hiking, trail running, mountain bike trails from our doorstep. And if you fancy hopping on a bus or into your car, the famous Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval is a must!
For keen road cyclists, there is a smorgasbord of jaw-dropping, iconic Tour de France climbs e.g. Joux Plane, along with beautiful valley tours, right from Chalet Etoile’s doorstep. Cycling season runs from May through to October/beginning November, depending on how hot or how high you like it!
And it’s not just about sport – the Haut-Giffre valley has masses to offer in terms of culture, whether that’s historic tours and events, or local gastronomic markets and musical festivals. The beautiful towns of Annecy, Geneva and Thonon are within an hour’s drive, and the Montreux Jazz Festival is a very doable 2-hour trip.

Tony and I have lived in France for many years and when we finally returned to Ireland, we dreamed of owning a house in the French Alps to share with our children, family and friends. The Grand Massif has always been a favourite destination of ours, with so much to do across all 4 seasons, so when the opportunity to buy Chalet Etoile came along in 2021, we jumped at the chance. We are keen skiers, walkers and cyclists, and Morillon is the perfect place for us to indulge in our hobbies all year round or to simply relax and unwind in the beautiful surroundings.
We fell in love with Chalet Etoile for so many reasons….it’s such a short walk to the ski lift, you barely blink before you’re there. A real bonus, especially if you’ve young kids in tow. You can also ski all the way down to the bottom of the lift (and après-ski bars)! As we’re in the village, shops and restaurants are on our doorstep and the beautiful lake is only a short stroll away. The house is also so roomy. Much as we love our kids, now that they’re teenagers, it’s great to be able to all have our own space. Having 2 living rooms, along with a choice of bedrooms on different floors, has become quite a bonus! Given our enjoyment of multiple sports, we need a lot of storage space too. So having an ample ski locker and bike shed has been fantastic.
Most of all, we find being in Chalet Etoile simply so relaxing…. whether lounging in front of the log fire, soaking up the breath-taking views of the Criou from the balcony or hot tub - or playing an apéro game of boules in the garden, there’s something special for everyone in the family to enjoy. It’s always such a strain to leave!
