Lac Bleu Morillon

Lac Bleu is a stunning mountain lake located just 400m from the centre of Morillon village, in the Haute-Savoie region of France. The lake, and its immediate surroundings, are a haven for those seeking year-round action or relaxation in the midst of our alpine paradise.

Its proximity close to the village centre, and the compact layout of the lake, surrounding activities, and restaurant make it a convenient and highly popular spot, particularly for families.

Lac Bleu is fed by a network of underground rivers, the lake's crystal-clear and mineral-rich waters create its signature deep blue colour – a truly beautiful sight.

Lac Bleu in Summer

In summer, Lac Bleu and its picturesque surroundings become a hub for activity and relaxation, offering something for everyone while remaining especially popular with families.

For those seeking relaxation, flat grassy areas, shady trees, and open spaces perfect for sunbathing or games provide the ideal backdrop for unwinding. Picnic tables and benches dot the area, making it a favourite spot for enjoying outdoor meals amidst nature’s beauty.

Lake Swimming Area & Beach

An excellent and popular life-guarded swimming area in the crystal clear water, with sandy beach, open grass areas and wonderful views! Available July and August, with unsupervised swimming and beach access possible year-round.

Pump Track

The impressive pump track is a huge favourite, with a few different routes of varying difficulty. Conveniently located between the lake and La Covagne bar/restaurant. Available year-round.

Tree-Top Adventure Park

Another popular activity, the adventure park at Lac Bleu features secured tree-top routes taking you down the side of the lake, with an incredible flying fox over the lake! There are various routes for all ages. Available Spring to Autumn. More info

Splash

A fun inflatable obstacle course which floats in the middle of the lake. If you fall off, you get wet!

Tennis & Mini Golf

Located around 250m from the lake, you will find several tennis courts, and directly opposite a popular mini golf (crazy golf) course under the trees offering shade from the warm summer sun.

Inflatable park

A park full of inflatable fun and adventure for 3-11 year olds, located around 100m from Lac Bleu. 
Available June to August

Fishing

Lac Bleu is a popular sport for trout fishing, and with its clear blue water, and mountain backdrop, it’s easy to see why.
Available May to September.

Riverside Walks/Bike Rides

Flowing just 75m from Lac Bleu is the Giffre river which offers its own selection of activities, with rafting and kayaking possible starting from Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval and ending opposite Lac Bleu.
Wide, smooth riverside tracks lead from Lac Bleu in both directions, either downstream towards Taninges, or upstream towards Samoëns and beyond. Whether on bikes or on foot, there is much to explore, and the many trails which veer off into the surrounding forests are always enjoyed by children.

Lac Bleu in Winter

For non-skiers, and those looking for something different in Winter, Lac Bleu is a great choice, and surrounded by snow, its blue waters take on an even more impressive vibrancy.

Sauna & Cold Water Swimming

Lac Bleu is served by an underwater river network, meaning its waters don’t freeze over, maintaining a temperature of around 5-7oC in winter. This makes it an ideal choice for those brave cold water enthusiasts!
Conveniently, Bastu74 offer a lakeside wood-fired barrel sauna to warm up, whether you fancy a swim or not!

Snowshoeing & Walking

Lac Bleu, and the riverside and wooded trails in the surrounding area are ideal for exploring in winter, with several routes of varying lengths. When snow cover is deep, the area is ideal for snowshoeing.

Sledging

Always popular in the winter, a sledging area is available between the village centre and Lac Bleu.

Cross Country Skiing

The Haute-Giffre valley boasts an impressive network of cross-country trails spanning the length of the valley, with trails looping Lac Bleu and then heading off up the valley towards Samoëns. The fairly flat and open areas surrounding Lac Bleu are particularly suitable for beginners.

Restaurants

La Covagne

Located on the very edge of Lac Bleu, La Covagne is highly convenient for those enjoying everything that the area offers. Its location offers stunning views over the lake and the surrounding mountain at any time of the year.

In winter, a cosy fire keeps you warm, while in summer, the sides of the restaurant are opened allowing you to fully immerse in the natural surroundings. Also in summer, deck chairs and other outdoor seating surround the front of the restaurant, making it a popular choice in the warmer months. Ice cream is served!

It offers a varied menu, including some local specialities, including a great selection of drinks.

Access

You will find Lac Bleu located just 400m from Morillon village centre, in the direction of Verchaix, making it an easy walk from our village centre accommodation.

Parking is available just a few metres from the lake.
