Top Tips #3 - Packing For Your Ski Holiday in Samoens and the Grand Massif

So you've prepared vigorously for your ski holiday and our expert team has helped you book the perfect property. You've spent months watching the webcams and snow reports as summer turned to autumn, autumn turned to winter, and eventually the mountains turned white with gloriously deep fluffy snow. It's finally time for your ski holiday, your flight leaves in just 6 hours, and you haven't even thought about packing yet! Fear not, we're here to help! Below you'll find a list of the most important items for a successful ski holiday.

What to Pack?

On the Mountain

  • Ski equipment - skis, boots, poles, helmet
  • Jacket & ski pants
  • Warm mid-layer (fleece/down jacket)
  • Thermals
  • Socks - Lots! Nobody likes smelly feet!
  • Gloves - mittens are best for cold hands
  • Hat
  • Buff - perfect for windy or very cold days
  • Goggles
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun cream - it may be cold and snowy, but you can easily get burnt!
  • Lip protector
  • Hip flask - for your favourite tipple, of course!
  • Hand warmers
  • Camera - don't forget the memory card!
  • Small rucksack - big enough for spare clothing, water, and lots of snacks!
  • Avalanche safety equipment (if skiing off piste)
  • Ski insurance details & EHIC card

Off the Mountain

  • Casual clothing - Plenty of jeans/trousers and inter changeable layers.
  • Warm jacket - perfect if you fancy an apres ski vin chaud in Jeff's open air bar!
  • Boots - snow boots or waterproof walking boots are ideal around town or numerous non ski activities such as snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
  • Swimwear - essential if you've chosen a property with a pool, sauna or hot tub
  • UK to FR plug adaptors
  • Slippers and pyjamas - a relaxing evening in front of a warm fire is not the same without them!
  • Passport & travel details/documents
  • The telephone number of your in resort property management company - call ahead with your arrival time to ensure someone is waiting with keys and discounted lift passes, if ordered.
  • Toothbrush - Don't forget your toothbrush!

Packing Tips!

  • Roll clothes, don't fold them - you'll squeeze a lot more in!
  • Pack fragile items inside your ski helmet
  • Wear your ski jacket/walking boots on the plane to save space
  • Put heavy items in your hand luggage

If you happen to arrive in the valley and realise you're missing some essential items, or your dog chewed a hole in your favourite ski socks, then all is not lost!
