Whilst we’ve been having some fabulous, sunny days here in Samoëns of late, the autumn season is now well and truly upon us. The surrounding mountains are fast changing colour from the bright greens of summer to deep browns and orange. And despite the warm rays of sun that blare down during the day, the mornings are crisp, the days shorter, and the evenings ever cooler. It’s a beautiful time of year and an exciting one at that because these ever-changing days mean only one thing… Winter is coming!
The winter season is just around the corner and before too long our already charming little village will be a magical sight. There’s nothing I love more than waking up each morning to see a blanket of white outside my window. Snow has already fallen on the highest peaks in the valley, and if last winter is anything to go by there will be plenty more to come. The winter season 2012/13 saw some record snowfalls in the Grand Massif, and on more than one occasion our resort came in as No.1 for snow coverage across the entire French Alps! That’s right. The Grand Massif tipped the scales on larger (and higher) resorts like Tignes, Val D’Isere and Chamonix.
The Grand Massif really was the place to be last year and it’s sure to be the place to be this Winter 2014. And to make sure you have the best holiday experience possible (on and off the slopes!) Alps Accommodation has put together an even more impressive portfolio of properties. Your favourites are all still available of course, however, a new and exciting partnership with some of the owners of our properties means we can bring you an even broader range of accommodations to choose from.

New to the portfolio this year are the beautiful and newly constructed Chardons Argentes properties. These luxurious apartments are nestled in a quiet corner of Samoëns, a stone’s throw away from the centre and literally 100m from the ski bus stop. The best feature however, is that guests to the Chardons Argentes properties can benefit from a private, ‘residents-only’, indoor swimming pool. What better way to relax after a hard day on the mountain than to kick back in the calm and heated waters of your own swimming pool?
There’s also the stunning Chalet Chambard, a beautifully renovated farmhouse located on the south-facing slopes overlooking the village. Chalet Chambard is an absolute paradise for larger groups, providing 240m2 of luxurious accommodation. There are 4/5 spacious bedrooms, a huge open-plan living area with stone fireplace, and all the home-from-home comforts you could ask for, including free Wifi access throughout and the possibility of linking your own Apple TV account to the giant flat screen television in the chalet’s entertainment suite. What makes this property even more attractive is it is located in 1300m2 of private grounds which provide an awesome sledging terrain when the snow is fresh!
Ah, “Fresh snow!” Those two words alone make my heart beat a little faster in my chest. The Grand Massif will be opening its lifts in Samoëns from Saturday the 21st of December, with lifts in Flaine operating from the 14th. The Alps Accommodation team will be up and running in full swing by then, and will eagerly be awaiting your arrival into resort. In fact they’re up and running right now! So, if you’re getting excited about the coming winter season 2014, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Tom and Ali and their team would be more than happy to help you organise your perfect winter break.
