The Alps are the perfect place for a golf holiday with the most breathtaking scenery. There are numerous, excellent golf courses offering 9 and 18 holes, all within an hour’s drive from your accommodation. Our 8 recommended courses are as follows:
Golf de Flaine, Les Carroz
Just 45 minute drive from our accommodation, this is the highest course in the Haute Savoie region. Set at 1900m altitude, there are dramatic mountain views at every hole and you feel like you are playing on top of the world. The course is very mountainous and challenging, often teeing off from an elevated position over ravines and cliffs! Of the 18 holes, half are par 3’s, making it a par 63 course.
Golf des Gets, Les Gets
Our closest 18 hole, just 25 minutes away. The views and setting are magnificent and although carts are available we recommend taking your time and enjoying the walk through the pine trees. It is a par 70 course set over 5264m.
Golf d’Avoriaz, Morzine
Set at 1600m this is the second highest course in the area. Even though it is less challenging than Flaine it is a nice long 9 hole, par 36. Enjoyable for all levels of golfer, this course has spectacular panoramic views, set on a plateau overlooking the Morzine valley.
Golf Club de Chamonix, Chamonix
Just 40 minutes away is the stunning course at Chamonix, with extremely dramatic backdrops including Europe’s highest peak, Mont Blanc. This exclusive course has 18 holes, par 72 set over 6076m and does have a good share of water hazards. A slightly gentler course as it doesn’t offer such significant elevation changes as some of the previous, and is a welcome course for any golfing holiday.
Evian Masters, Geneva
Situated on the south bank of Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, it has a great technical nature and is full of surprises for your golf break. This 18 hole, par 72 golf course is set over 6006m and is one of the best courses in the region. Set in 60 hectares of woodland it welcomes the best international players each year in the Evian Masters competition.
Talloires Lac d’Annecy, Annecy
Wide open fairways and a stunning mountain backdrop, part of the course is within a nature reserve, and one of the less demanding golf courses to play in the area. It has 18 holes, par 69, and is set over 5016m.
Golf Club de Giez, Lac d’Annecy
This is a course you will never forget, due to its beautiful lake views and shuttle service half way to deal with the huge elevation change. Ideal for all levels of golfer, there is an additional 9 hole course on flat ground by the lakeside. The 18 hole golf course is par 72, while the 9 hole is par 33.
Golf Club d’Aix-les-Bains, Aix-les-Bains
An ideal golf course to play on the way to Annecy, it is one of France's oldest courses opening in 1913. There are 18 holes, par 70 and is 5519m long. A varied course with its fair share of slopes and water obstacles.
